I'm often asked what type of photography I shoot. My work falls into two quite distinct areas – working with people and working with businesses (more commonly known as commercial photography). The reason I enjoy offering both services is two fold. It adds variety to my work, ensuring that I keep the creativity flowing and allows me to help local businesses, just like me. I love to tell their story and help them as they start out or continue to grow.
Before my career as a photographer took off, I was employed in the corporate world of financial services. Having worked my way up to managerial level and completed all my banking exams, I knew the time was right for some creative balance in my life. What started out as a hobby quickly progressed into a career and the rest is history. Sometimes when I look back I wish I had taken the leap sooner but then I remember all the important skills I learnt throughout my corporate career that stand me in such good stead now.
Here in Northern Ireland small businesses play such an important role in the economy. That's why I am so passionate about supporting local and helping others to build their brand & presence. It can be challenging at times for traders in smaller towns when companies set up outside of town, potentially drawing business away. How do small & medium sized businesses continue to grow & expand? This is where you have to get creative, get busy and get noticed.
So how do you do it? Tell your story. People buy people and love to know all about you. Where you are from, what you do, what inspires you and show them often. You will reinforce your presence and keep you to the forefront of their mind.
