Sinead Norton, CEO of The Mums at Work Network held another fantastic business event last week at The Merchant Hotel in Belfast. I had the pleasure of covering the event and what an evening! Event Photography is one of my favourite types of work – there is always a buzz in the air, and you get to meet a wide variety of people, from all walks of life

Elevate Your Business

The event was designed to help attendees raise visibility and gain advice from others. We got to hear the stories of other women in business and were shown ways to help gain confidence to help promote our own businesses. Sinead kicked off with an introduction. We learnt about her background and family life, the challenges she has faced over the years and how she has overcome them. Sinead is an inspiration and very down to earth. Definite speaks in language we all understand and is very relatable.

Mums at Work network has grown and expanded over the past five years and Sinead should be very proud of what she has achieved to date. Her network allows businesswomen to connect, gain support from others, whilst learning new skills and building relationships. Sinead provides online support through webinars and online meet ups weekly, as well as in person meets up around Northern Ireland.

Guest Speakers – Elevate Your Business

Sinead invited three guest speakers to the Elevate Your Business Event – Jenny McNally, Marie Walker and Grainne McCoy. All three ladies brought their own individual style and flair to the stage. It was lovely to hear their stories and learn more about their work and passions in life

First up was Jenny McNally of Jenny Diane Hypnotherapy. She had everyone in fits of giggles whilst telling her story and sharing the seven women who had inspired her in business.

Next up was Marie Walker from MCS Branding. Marie shared how she got started in business and how her business has evolved. We heard all about the importance of branding and Marie shared her top tips on creating a successful brand that works for you when you aren’t there

Our final speaker was the truly inspiring Grainne McCoy, professional makeup artist who rose to fame as a finalist on the BBC show The Apprentice. If I was to describe Grainne in 3 words, it would be funny, determined and honest. She spoke openly and candidly, which is today’s world is refreshing to say the least. The fact she was dosed with the worst cold / flu didn’t stop her turning up and delivering an uplifting, motivational speech.

Grainne shared lots of really useful advice. My top three take aways: – when the alarm goes off, get up out of bed. Don’t hit the snooze button! Don’t let anyone diminish your dreams and finally, start each with gratitude.

Then it was time for everyone to mingle, network and check out the exhibitors who attended the event. I love chatting to all the women from businesses all over Northern Ireland. There was even a bus in place to take the large group of ladies from Derry who attended. I’m sure there was some craic on the way home!
